NATIONAL
“SWING HIGH” The glamour and uncertainty of life in the circus ring form the background for “Swing High,” the Pathe production. which is having a successful season at the National Theatre. Produced on an elaborate scale, it is said to be the most ambitious film attempted by the Pathe Studios since the advent of the talking picture, and includes a notable cast of 16 wellknown motion picture players. Prominent among these are Chester Conklin and Ben Turpin, whose antics on the silent screen were always a. source of great amusement; Dorothy Burgess, Helen Twelvetrees, and Nick Stuart. All the elements which make for an entertaining picture are found in this fine production. Drama and romance are skilfully blended, and there is also an abundance of humour, which serves to offset the many dramatic situations. Some remarkable scenes during the course of a circus performance are shown, the feats of skill on the trapeze being particularly effective.. Tlie plot of the story is well conceived, and many novel situations are introduced. An entertaining selection of supporting items completes an enjoyable programme
