HERD-TESTING EXPANSION INCREASING SUPPORT Prom Oar Oxen Correspondent HAMILTON, Thursday. Steadily increasing support is being given to tho herd-testing movement in the Taranaki. Manawatu, Wairarapa, Marlborough. Canterbury and Nelson districts, while five new groups have been formed this season on the west coast of tho South Island. Mr. C. M. Hume, Dominion supervisor of the Mew Zealand Herd-testing Federation, has visited all these districts recently, and states that everywhere herd-testing is receiving recognition by dairy farmers. He will leave this week for Southland, where he intends to spend 10 days on organising work. FRANKTON DAIRY SALE Oalgety and Co., Ltd., report having hold their usual weekly dairy sale at Frankton on Wednesday last, when bidding was brisk on all good sorts. Following is the run of prices:—A herd of 40 dairy cows and heifers averaged '212; good calved cows, £l4 15s to £ls 10s; fair sorts, £lO 15s to £l3 10s; others, £8 5s to £10; threequarter cows, £5 35s to £6 10s; springing cows, £7 to CIO 10s; good springing heifers, £lO H>s to £l3; fair sorts, £8 to £9 10s; poor backward sorts, £4 to £5.
