AMATEUR BILLIARDS

AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The Auckland Provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited. Shield, was continued at Messrs. Billiards, Limited, showrooms, last evening, when H. Randrup defeated T. Tierney by 500 points to 316. Randrup soon found touch, and at his third visit to the table made a break of 30, and followed with one of 21 two cues later. His opponent had very few chances to display his ability. Randrup was doing well and a further break of 24 resulted, and he reached the 100 mark with a good lead. Randrup varied his play judiciously in a. nicely compiled break of 51. Tierney earned applause for some nice all-round cannons. He was scoring consistently without making any breaks of note. Randrup at this stage gained a good lead, the scores being 317 to 184 in his favour. A further break of 32 by Randrup increased his load. His youthful opponent manfully stuck to his task, but found the match conditions a little too difficult .o display his best form. Randrup ran to points with breaks of 20, 22 and 21, the final scores being: H. Randrup. 500, breaks og 30, 21, 24, 51, 32, 20. 22, 21. T. Tierney, 316, breaks of 20 and 21. W. E. Hacket will play E. J. Morrison this evening.
