FLAXMILLING INDUSTRY

SUBSIDY ASKED FOR Press Association FOXTON, Wednesday. A meeting of business people, members of the borough council, chamber of commerce, and Flaxmills Employees’ Union was held to discuss the unemployment situation and the distress in the Foxton and Shannon districts caused through the closing of the flaxmills. It was decided to urge the Government to subsidise the hemp industry until such time as the Unemployment Board commenced to function, and that the member for the district take immediate steps to lay the matter before the Acting -Prime Minister.
