AFTERNOON TEA CONFERENCE DELEGATE i HONOURED KINDERGARTEN COMMITTEE Miss Hull, of Christchurch, gave an interesting account of her experiences as a New Zealand delegate to the Pan-Pacific Conference, at an afternoon tea given in her honour by the committee of the Onehunga Free Kindergarten in the Lyceum Club yesterday. Victoria League At Home Miss Mowbray Is Guest of Honour at Birthday Party ! MANY PRESENTATIONS j The members of the Victoria League gave a most enjoyable At Homo last evening in honour of the birthday of Miss J. A. Mowbray, the president, in the lounge of the Click Clack Cabaret. The lounge was attractively decorated with bowls of iceland poppies, irises and pussy-willow. Miss Morrison. one of the oldest members of the league, presented Mis*. Mowbray with a beautiful bouquet of red, white and blue flowers, and on behalf of the New Plymouth branch. Lady Sinclair-Lockhart presented the guest of honour • with a bouquet of 1 primroses. Mr. C row the r, who acted as chairj man, said it was a great pleasure to ! see so large a gathering assembled to [ wish their president many happy returns of the day. lie spoke of the | esteem and affection in which Aliss 1 Mowbray was held by the members lie read a letter, signed by all the oxej cutive members of the league wishing I the president many more happy birth- : days, and stating that the success of
the league in the past 120 years was due to her tact and untiring energy. Airs. J. B. Maefarlane, on behalf of the members, presented the guest of honour with an embroidered evening/ bag containing a cheque. Aliss Mowbray, in replying, thanked tho members for their kindness, and said she had never had a more proud moment in her life and had always found a great pleasure in doing her duty She expressed the hope that the league woo d prosper in the future, as it had in the past. Aliss Mowbray then cut her birthday cake, which had been presented by Airs. Eliot Davis. A very enjoyable programme*was arranged by Aliss E.
