NEW PICTURE ON FRIDAY A production of a most extraordinary type i 3 “With Byrd At the South Pole/* which is now in its last days at the Civic Theatre. It is the result of one of the most heroic and exalted uses to which the motion picture has yet been put. If the picture was merely a routine and spiritless record of the great Byrd adventure at the South Pole, it would still be a subject of vast importance, and consequently of vast interest to the public. But being the moving and dramatic story which it is, it rates tremendously in its potential good to the picture world as a whole. An entertaining supporting programme is also being shown. He is America’s unofficial ambassador to the League of Nations and the World Court. He is brilliant, very human with a sense of wit that has the world “eating out of his hand.” Of course he is none other than Will Rogers whose “They Had To See Paris” brought him millions of new admirers. But his most recent movietone. I “So This Is London,” will add still more devotees to this gum-chewing, j lariat swinging unique star, j None other than that author of many successes, Owen Davis, sen., made the [ adaptation of this George M. Cohan j international success. John Blystone j directed and such sterling troupers as | Irene Rich, Frank Albertson, Maureen | O’Sullivan and Lumsden Hare supI port. i “So This Is London” comes to the I Civic Theatre on Friday.
