AMERICAN ATHLETES
PROJECTED VISIT TO DOMINION NURMI NOT TO TOUR Special to THE SUN WELLINGTON, Friday. It is hoped that the American athletic authorities will forego the rule which permits travelling athletes to only go on tour for a period of twentyone days, and thus allow George Bullwinkle and George Simpson to undertake a tour of the Dominion, arrangements for which are in the hands of Mr. C. G. Krogness, New Zealand representative in the United States. According to information received this week by the council of the New Zealand A.A.A. both these athletes are interested in the proposal that they should visit New Zealand. Bullwinkle, however, is at present on tour in Europe and Simpson has intimated that he will make no decision until after a big meeting to take place in Chicago this month. In the meantime the council is marking-time. Definite advice has been received that the proposed visit of the famous distance runner, Paavo Nurmi, to Australia has been abandoned as his country’s athletic control refuses to give him the necessary permission to travel.
