RAILWAY GUARD HONOURED
FUNCTION AT ROTORUA From Our Own Correspondent ROTORUA, Saturday. The members of the Rotorua branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants tendered a complimentary smoke Concert last evening to Mr. Peter Scott, who has just retired from the Railway Department after 40 years’ service, of which a considerable portion has been spent as guard on the Frankton-Rotorua line. Mr. W. L. Richards, who presided over a large attendance, referred to the many excellent attributes of their guest as a railway servant and said he had always been impressed by the fairness and courtesy shown by Guard Scott in his relations with the public. He wished him many years of happiness. Mr. Scott suitably replied. An enjoyable vocal and instrumental programme was contributed by Messrs. Andrews. Edwards, Hardcastle, Heavey, Hickford, Hudson, Lilley, Shiels. Tanner, Wilkinson. and Young.
