SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS^ The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated September 5, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities, on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex-London stores (prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses):—

New Zealand Prime Baconer Pigs.— 1211 b to 1801 b, 7sd (7d).
Lamb Market. —Better trade this week owing to more suitable weather. Good quality lambs remain firm, but second quality slow of sale and weaker.
Mutton Market. —Wethers steady and unchanged. Small interest is being displayed in ewes. Beef Market. Nominal prices. Market is easier through lower prices for Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand Porker Pigs.—Demand is improving with better prospects ahead. New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—Demand is rather slow.
