AUSTRALIA IN A WEEK
FLIER WILL GO BACK STRAIGHT AWAY AMBITIOUS PROJECT Reed. 12.20 p.m. LONDON, Friday. Mr. F. R. Matthews, Miss Amy Johnson’s instructor, will leave Croydon on September 19 in an attempt to fly to Darwin and back within a fortnight. He is using a standard Puss Moth with extra tanks. His outward stages will be Sofia, Bagdad, Calcutta, Singapore, Flores and Darwin, thus reaching Australia in six days. After a rest of a day at Darwin he proposes to return in the same time.
