BAIL REFUSED

ACCUSED FOUND WITH REVOLVER CHARGED WITH BURGLARY “No, I certainly won’t allow ball to a man found with a loaded revolver in liis possession.” So said Mr. Ft Iv. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court today, when Theodore Vincent Casey, who was remanded until September 15, asked for bail. Casey was charged with being found in unlawful possession of a sevenchambered revolver on September 5. He was charged further with breaking and entering the shop of Gordon Thompson on July 12, and stealing two suitcases, 16 fountain pens, silver serviette ring, six. plates, a sugar basin, a jug, a cup and saucer, six vulcanite screw pencils, 60 packets of cigarettes, 30 tins and packets of tobacco, 2s worth of stamps, one silver teapot, two opal rings, an American dollar, an Australian florin, and a bunch of keys, of a total value of £IS Is lOd. Through Sir. Haines he entered a plea of not guilty to the first charge. On the second —an indictable charge —no plea was made. Chief-Detective Hammond asked for a remand until September 15, as other charges were pending. “I would ask for bail,” said counsel. “No, I certainly won’t allow bail to a man found with a loaded revolver in his possession,” said Mr. Hunt. Accused: The revolver was not loaded, sir. “It doesn't matter.” said the magistrate. “Bail is refused, and accused is remanded to appear on September 15.
