Sherriff’s Play Not a Success

“BADGER'S GREEN" FAILS

“Badger's Green.” R. C. Sherrill’s cricket play, which opened on June 12, has been withdrawn, states a London critic. The author of “Journey’s End” has thus had a failure with a play of sentiment and gentle humour that has delighted most of those who have seen it.

Maurice Browne's intention of keeping “Badger’s Green” running for three months was conditional upon a steady rise in receipts, however small. Meanwhile, with big film forces proposing to acquire at least two West* End theatres, negotiations have been in progress for the purpose, it is understood, of turning a small, but luxurious West End cinema into a theatre for stage performances.
