Aliss Sweet gave a most interesting talk on George Eliot at a meeting of the literary section of the Pen women’s League on Tuesday. Later an animated discussion took place among the members on various phases of the writer’s life and the effect of certain .influences on her personality and work. Selections to illustrate these phases were contributed by various members. Those present included Alisses O. E. Burton, Bertram. N. L. Dash, Sweet, Quill, Peacock, Spurling, AT. Hutton Wliitelaw, Edell-Jones, Airs. Spinley and Mrs. McLean.
