PAKURANGA HUNT

MEET AT HOMAI GOOD RUNS ENJOYED A large field attended the meet of the *Pakuranga Hunt at Homai yesterday afternoon. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, and with the scent holding well, some every enjoyable runs were indulged in. Mr. Ryall, a visitor from Ireland, was an interested follower.

The pack turned into the property of Mr. Clutha Mackenzie, and worked through Mrs. Palmer’s farm on to Mr. Rogers’s, where a hare was put up in a clump of gorse. After running in a small circle, it was killed before it could make a get-away.

It was not long before another quarry was located which led the field back through Mrs. Palmer’s farm, and on to within sight of the sea at. Weymouth. where it found shelter in barred

country. A visit was then paid to Mr. Finlayson's. where a hare was soon raised. It took the followers for a big run over a good line of country, but eventually found shelter in barred country. A move was then made to the far end of Mr. Finlayson’s. where a strong quarry was located. It lead the field in a big circle, round Mr. Motion’s, and circled ba**k on to Mr. Finlayson’s. from where it crossed the road into Mr. Rogers’s, and over a number of small holdings, to be finally killed in a clump of wattles on Mr. Finlayson’s. After that the field had another merry burst across Mr. MeGrail’s property, but the quarry was lost on the road.

The field then had a tliree-mi e gallop across country to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Clutha Mackenzie, where the member’s were their guests. Mr. H. Bullock Webster, master of Hie hunt, thanked their host and hostess for their hospitality, and also extended the thanks of the members to the farmers over whose land they are allowed to hunt.
