TRAIN HITS MOTOR-CAR

ONE PASSENGER HURT ACCIDENT AT CROSSING . Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. A goods train travelling at 25 miles an hour struck a motor-car on tbe Sockburn level crossing this evening and hurled the car about a chain, throwing it clear of the line against a fence. Three persous were in the car, but only one, Mr. James MeClintock. of Timaru, was hurt. He suffered head injuries and shock. His condition is satisfactory. The accident occurred at seven o'clock.

The driver of the car, in an endeavour to avoid a collision, put on the brakes, but the car stopped right across the lines.

None of tbe occupants of the car was thrown out, but all were badly shaken. The smash was at tbe crossing at which a tragic accident, resulting in the death of six people, occurred on June 16.
