“JUST AND FAIR”
4 WELL-KNOWN and widelyexperienced North Island owner and trainer, discussing the Auckland; handicapping position during the week, expressed the opinion that it would have been only just and fair, where things were equal, to have given both handicappers a chance. Mr. Paul being the adjuster for the Auckland Club, might have been given the advantage of the “odd” day in 11, but the capable Otahuhu official, Mr. Goosman, was entitled to a share of the work. “The fact that more than 100 owners and trainers in the Auckland Province considered it detrimental to the sport to have the same adjuster for Auckland as operates in Christchurch,” he considered, “was another reason if Mr. Rowe was so set on having Mr. Paul reappointed, why Mr. Goosman should have been given a fair portion.”
