Senior Soccer Cup

FIRST ROUND TO MORROW

Four Knockout Matches

KNOCKOUT SOCCER matches will again lili the menu tomorrow, when the first round of the Senior Cup ties will be played. The luck of the draw lias not provided any outstanding attractions, but the games set down for decision at Blandford Park should provide two lively bouts.

In the first game Y.M.C.A. meets Corinthians and the odds favour the championship winners. The principal match is between Ponsonby and Manurewa, and after the great game the suburban club played with Thistle the Ponies can afford to take no risks in a knockout clash. Thistle visits Onehunga and a good game should result, and if Trams are up to full strength Celtic should be hard pressed at Walker Park. The first game on Wednesday was fought out between the Grand Hotel and the Automatic Exchange Company. The latter team turned out smartly dressed in blue and white quarters. The Grand Hotel played in White. At half-time the Exchange was two coals up. On the resumption of play. Grand Hotel livened up and quickly netted two goals, due to the ingenuity of Bob 1 nneg. Exchange then settled down in earnest, and Humphries scored from well out. Two more were added a little later, and Exchange ran out winners by five goals, to two. The game was fast and some good football was witnessed by the respective supporters of the teams. Patou was safe in goal for the Farmers, and Morrison, Woods and Bush were the best of the forwards. R. Stone played a solid game at back for Milk Company, and J. Stone, at outside left was speedy and accurate. Graham at half back also showed good form: Farmers, 2; Milk Company. 0.
