MRS. KENNETH GORDON SPEAKS AT LUNCHEON CLUB
An interesting address to members of the Women’s Luncheon Club was given on Tuesday by Airs. Kenneth Gordon, upon Charles Dickens. Herself a lover of that great writer’s works, the speaker very skilfully sketched his life work, which had done so much to reform the prison, the school and the poorhouse of the 19th century. His skill as a writer depended much on the simplicity of his language, and on the description of the elemental human emotions, which are unchangeable The address was much appreciated. Airs. David Smith presided and Aliss Ida Walker led the club singing.
