! PARISHIONERS ENTERTAIN BRIDE-ELECT AND FIANCE j On Wednesday, St. George’s Church parishioners gave a very enjoyable social and dunce to Miss J. Batting and Mr. Crawford, in honour of tiieir approaching marriage. Mr. Battersby, on behalf of the parishioners, presented the guests of honour with a silver tea and coffee service on a silver mounted tray. The Rev. FUNDS FOR SACRED HEART CHURCH
COMMITTEE OF WOMEN ORGANISES CARD AFTERNOON Mrs. Emmett Kelly, assisted by an energetic committee of women, organised a most successful bridge and “five hundred” afternoon in aid of the Sacred Heart Church Fund. The afternoon was held yesterday on the balcony off the Tudor room, which was charmingly decorated with hanging baskets of ferns, vases of iceland poppies and tali arum lilies. MUNICIPAL OFFICERS' SOCIAL CLUB HOLDS SECOND SOCIAL OF SEASON
ENJOYABLE ITEMS
The concert chamber of the Town Hall was very prettily decorated last evening for the second social of the year held by the Auckland Municipal Officers’ Social Club. Blue and white streamers formed a canopy overhead, and flowering cyclamen and primulas made gay splashes of colour on the stage among the green of ferns, palms and bamboo foliage. Some very enjoyable items were given between the dances, including selections played by the Orphans’ Club Orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Harold Baxter, a recitation by Miss O. Gilbertson and a cornet solo played by Air. A. JL Webb. Birtley’s Band supplied an excellent programme of dance tunes. Among those present were the Mayoress, Airs. A. U. RESIDENTS ARRANGE FAREWELL EVENING FOR BRIDE TO BE A most enjoyable farewell and gift evening was given by Mrs. Murray, of Whangapara, Great Barrier, in honour of Miss Beteridge, who is shortly to be married. The hall was artistically decorated with silk streamers and balloons. There was a large number of guests present from all parts of the island. Airs.
