Mr. A. J. Hutchinson left for Wellington last evening. Mr. J- S. Brigham, Town «'lork, and Mr. J- Stanton. City Solicitor, were passengers on the Limited this mornMr. W. J. Shanly, secretary to the Hon. W. B. Taverner. Minister of Public Works, arrived on the Limited this morning. Mr. J. M. Griffiths, secretary of the Wellington Racing Club, and Mrs. Griffiths, returned from an Island trip last evening on the Tofua. Mr. W. Russell-Wood, of Auckland, who was judging at the Greymouth elocutionary competitions, has returned after visiting the Franz Josef Glacier. Mr. A. G. Bignell and Mr. C. W. Peynter. of Wanganui, who have been on a trip to the Islands, returned by the Tofua yesterday and are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. C. H. Wilkie, who has resigned the managership of the Xapier branch of the Royal Exchange Assurance Company. leaves Napier this week to visit relatives in the Dominion, prior to his departure on a trip to England and the Continent. The Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, and party, on their way to the Imperial Conference, were entertained at luncheon by the Governor of Fiji, Sir Murchison Fletcher, when the Aurangi called at Suva last Friday. A civic reception was also given by the Mayor, the Hon. Henry Marks. Dr. A. Leslie Sutherland, missionary representative in India of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, has gained his F.R.C.S. degree in Edinburgh. Dr. Sutherland, who is the youngest son of the Rev. R. R. M.
