IMPROVING LEAGUE
PROPOSALS ENDORSED | BY A.R.L. ! PAYMENTS TO CLUB The recommendations of the Rugby League conference in Auckland last week were unanimously endorsed by the managemen't committee of the Auckland Rugby League at its meeting last evening. This means that the number of teams in the senior grade will be reduced from eight to six. The senior clubs will bo granted a percentage of the gate takings at Carlaw Park each week, and the present senior B grade system will be abolished in favour of the reserve senior grade system as in use in Sydney. The working out of the details of the scheme will be done by the Auckland management committee and the senior clubs. The new scheme of things is expected to come into action next season. The committee decided to send letters of congratulations to the Ponsonby and Utah uh u Clubs on their winning the senior A and B grade competitions respectively. The Ponsonby Club intimated that it was willing to billet the members of the Northland junior representative team, should that team come to Auckland for a matclu The committee' decided to abandon the last matches of the second round of the senior championship. which have no hearing on the resting-place of tlio honours, and proceed on Saturday with the lirst round of the lloope Booster knockout competition.
