PERSONAL. —Captain A. If. Prosser has relieved Captain J. G. Watson, of the Waikouaiti, for holidays. Captain E. R. Lowe has joined the Kahika, relieving Captain G. W. Evans for holidays. Captain E. G. Bilton has been appointed to the Kivritea, relieving Captain W. Whitfield for holidays. Messrs. A. P. Cousin and J. W. Madden have joined the Makura as second and third officers respectively, relieving Messrs. N. H. Pearson and S. H. Crawford, for instructions. Mr. T. H. Davis is now chief officer of the Kaimai, vice Mr. W. A. McGarry, who has come ashore for holidays. Mr. A. N. B. Smith, second engineer of the Makura, is at present on holiday. Air. C. G. Porteous, fifth engineer of the Wahine, has resigned from the service, his place being taken by Mr. J. S. Hardy. Mr. L. Blomfield has joined the Wai- J nui as second engineer, relieving Air. J K. J. NARBADA SAILS NOON TOMORROW. —A departure from Auckland tomorrow will be the Union Company’s Indian trader Narbada, which is scheduled to leave Queen's Wharf at noon for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff. SOUTHERN CROSS TO SAIL.—Now at Central Wharf loading general cargo and stores, the Melanesian Mission steamer ! Southern Cross is expected to sail on Monday or Tuesday next on her periodic* trip round the mission stations in the Pacific Islands. THE KAPONGA —The steamer Knponga, owned by the Union Steam Ship Company, left Deronport, Tasmania, at 5 o’clock last Alonday afternoon for Adelaide, Editbburg and Melbourne to complete loading for Auckland, Portland, New Plymouth and Wellington. TARANAKI FROM LONDON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's motor-vessel Taranaki arrived at Lyttelton early this morning from London via Suva with a cargo of general merchandise. She will later proceed to Port Chalmers. WAI RUN A REPORTS.—Carrying general merchandise from the Pacific Coast, the Union Company’s steamer Wairuna is, according to the latest wireless advice from the vessel, expected to arrive at Auckland on Tuesday evening. After discharging her local consignment of cargo she will proceed to Wellington, Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle.

TOFU A SAILS SATURDAY—The Union Company’s Island passenger steamer Tofua, which arrived from Fiji yesterday afternoon with passengers, mails and cargo and berthed at Prince’s Wharf is, according to latest advice, scheduled to sail fox* Fiji, Tonga and Samoa on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. SOLOY DUE TOMORROW. —According to her last radio message, the Norwegian motor-vessel Soloy is due in the stream at noon tomorrow fx*oxn Galveston, Texas. The vessel has a cargo of sulphur for discharge at Auckland, New Plymouth, Newcastle and Fremantle, the local portion of which she will put out at King’s Wharf to the agency of A. G. Frankham, Ltd. PORT GISBORNE SAILS SATURDAY. —Advice from the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company, Limited, states that the Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s motor-vessel Port Gisborne is to sail from Queen’s Wharf for London via Panama on Saturday with passengers and cargo. The following is a. list of the passengers;—Alesdames G. E. R. Perks, E. D. Ross, Aliss A. O. Hill Jack, Messrs. T. E. Perks, C. E. Ross, B. F. Scannel, B. E. B. Scannel, F. IT. Taylor, Masters R. CANADIAN TRANSPORTER RADIOS. —A further wireless message received by the local office of the Canadian National Steamships from the steamer* Canadian Transporter, states that she now expects to arrive in port from Montreal at 31 o’clock tomorrow night. The vessel has been allotted a berth at Prince’s Wharf, where she will put out the local consignment of her cargo of general merchandise from Eastern Canadian ports. She will later sail for Wellington. Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin to complete unloading.

THE YNGAREN.—Spedding, Ltd., advises that the Swedish motor-vessel Yngaren is expected to leave Los Angeles on September 13 for Auckland, Welling- ! ton, and Australian ports. She will be carrying lumber, petroleum, and general merchandise, and is due to arrive here about the middle of October. ZEALANDIC DUE 6.30 P.M. TODAY.— A radio message from the Shaw, Saville and Albion Company’s motor-vessel Zealandie states that she is now expected to arrive at Auckland at 6.30 this evening and will berth at Central Wharf to discharge her local portion of general merchandise from Liverpool. After discharge she will proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. NIAGARA AT 'SUVA TOMORROW.— The Union Steam Ship Company's Royal Mail liner Niagara, now en route from

Vancouver, is expected to reach Suva at 6 o’clock tomorrow morning. Sher sails i the same day for Auckland and is expected to arrive here on Monday morning with passengers, mail and cargo. THE GOLDEN CLOUD.—Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited, have received advice that the Oceanic and Oriental Navigation Company’s steamer Golden Cloud sailed from Los Angeles last Monday* with lumber, case oil and general cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. After discharge the vessel will load frozen meat at Gisborne, and copra at Tonga and* Honolulu for San Francisco. HAURAKI LEAVES FANNING ISILAND. —Cabled. n&ws by the T*uion Company that the motorship Hauraki, en route from Adelaide. ! left Fanning Island on Saturday* last for , . Vancouver. She is to load at Pacific 1 j Coast ports during September for j Papeete, Auckland. Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. The Hau- | raki is scheduled to clear Los Angeles on September 30, and is due at Auckland on October 26. TOFU A ARRIVES.—An arrival yesterday' afternoon was the Island passenger steamer Tofua, from Tonga. Niue Island. Apia and Suva. After the granting of pratique she berthed at Prince’s Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. The cargo comprises Island produce and includes about 5,000 cases of fruit from Apia. The vessel left Auckland on August 9 on her monthly trip rouftd the Islands, and experienced strong head winds on the passage to Suva. The dav after clearing that port she received instructions to go to the assistance of the disabled liner Tahiti, and she steamed toward that ship for nearly two days before she was recalled, and instructed to resume her voyage. From then on the Tofua enjoyed generally fair weather right back to Auckland. En route from Niue Island to Apia a call was made at Pago Pago to embark the Tahiti’s officers and crew, and her Island passengers, who had been landed by the Ventura.- At 11 o’clock on Saturday morning the Tofua is to be dispatched on her return trip to Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
