STRAND

NEW PROGRAMME TOMORROW “Crazy That Way,” with Joan Bennett, and "Th« Benson Murder Case,” starring William Powell, will finish their season at the Strand Theatre tonight. From tomorrow another attractive double - feature programme will be presented. The chief film on the programme will be “He Knew Women.” A masterpiece of subtle comedydrama is- the verdict after seeing “He Knew Women,’’ a thoroughly grownup and splendidly enacted talking drama of modern manners. One pannot fail to praise this smart and up-to-the-minute picture, adapted from the eminently successful stage play, "The Second Man,” by S. N. Behrman. Lowell Sherman, an actor of distinction in appearance, voice and manner, plays this subtle role with deftness. To him must go the major share of credit for sustaining the high note of this well-cast production. Oposite him, as the rich widow, is Alice Joyce. A capable supporting cast includes David Manners, newcomer to the screen, who scored sensationally in "Journey’s End,” and Frances Dade, charming and talented young blonde from the Broadway legitimate stage. The second film is "Tanned Legs,” starring Ann Pennington and June Clyde, and is full of snappy songs and haunting melodies.
