Sea Pearl to Visit Frank Worthy
MR. McMILLAN’S ENTERPRISE ASSOCIATION’S GOOD WORK Mr. George McMillan, one of Auckland's most popular and progressive light-harness supporters and owner of high-class horses, is bringing his quality mare Sea Pearl North to visit the purplebred American sire, Frank Worthy, at the Mardella Stud, Otahuhu. Sea Pearl is a comparatively young mare, being foaled in 1921, from parents of high degree. Her site is Nelson Bingen and her dam, Pearl Child, being by the great Rothschild, from Verity, a Vauclere mare. Sea Pearl raced consistently and successfully as a four, five and six-year-old. and during that period won £5,266 in .stake money. In the 192526 season the young mare won the Manawatu Cup for her breeder, Mr. H. P. Nicoll. and the Ashburton Handicap and Adams Memorial Cup for Mr. McMillan. The following year Sea Pearl earned £3,030, being second to Tala.ro in the list, who defeated her in the Auckland Cup. That season the chestnut mare won big events at Epsom and Forbury Park, including tho Otahuhu Cup (4.29 2-5). The second day of that fixture R. Berry
drove her into second place in the chief event in 4.26 2-5. Her last season as a racing proposition was 192728, when after being fourth in the Otahuhu Cup in 4.27, she won the Dominion Handicap from a strong field. The same day she was placed in a mile and a-quarter heat on 2.43. Since being retired to the matrons’ paddock, the daughter of Nelson Bingen has produced a handsome youngster to Wrack, with which good Southern judges are greatly impressed.
Pillar of the Sport In deciding to mate his favourite mare with the great Axworthy offshoot, Frank Worthy, the Auckland sportsman is adhering to his fixed purpose of getting only the best, and he deserves to meet with success in his breeding ventures. As a keen supporter of the code in the Dominion. Mr. McMillan has no peers. He purchases in the best and highest markets and racing purely for the sport his cerise and black livery is always popular with patrons of the pastime. He is a live member of the Auckland Committee, and as one of tho Trotting Association, his broadmindedness and , impartiality has gained him a high place in the esteem of the sporting fraternity. Like the other members of the association, the Aucklander has the welfare of the sport at heart, and the thanks of the public generally is due to the men who devote their time in furthering the pastime and improving its standard.
