DAFFODIL DAY
VICTORIA LEAGUE AND NAVY LEAGUE COMBINE TOMORROW’S COLLECTIONS Daffodil Day will be held tomorrow by the Victoria League and the Navy League. A combined street collection will be taken up. The Victoria League began holding a street collection in. 1915, and until the end of the war the proceeds went toward providing comforts for the soldiers. Since then the collections have taken place annually with the exception of last year. After the war it was decided to assist organisations, such as kindergartens, for the good of young citizens, and very often more than half of the proceeds of the collection is devoted to these charities. The Victoria League itself has for its main object the promotion of goodwill among the various units of the Empire. The League was founded in 1910. and it will celebrate its 21st birthday in November of next year. In the City and suburbs tomorrow 40 stalls will take part in the collection. The Boy Scouts will conduct 20 stalls in the suburbs and ortc in the City. Other stallholders will be:—Mrs. Worj all (Alt. Albert), the Navy League (3), the Victoria League (4), kindergatens (3), Girl Guides, St. John Ambulance. Hospital Auxiliary, Society for the Protection of Women and Children, Brains College girls and the Women’s Institute.
