GOLF CONTROL
N.Z. COUNCIL MEETING At the monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association, held at Wellington on Monday, there were present: Sir Alexander Roberts (chairman), Messrs. A. D. S. Duncan, M. J. Crombie, W. A. Kiely* Colonel R. O. Cliesney and G. O. Sutton, secretary. With reference to the championship tournament, the secretary reported that programmes and entry forms had been forwarded to all clubs and to all professionals, and also that a grading list of the professionals had been drawn UP by the Golf Professionals’ Association with a view to the Manawatu Golf Club being able to decide upon tho 20 whose entries will be accepted. A notice of motion for the annual meeting was received from an affiliated club to the effect that it be a recommendation to the council that the open and amateur championships be played 1 at different times, instead of at the same tournament as at present. Forthcoming tournaments advised to the association are as follow: Waipukurau Golf Club, September 4. 5 and 6; Central Otago Amateur Golf Association, annual tournament, Roxburgh links; women's events, September 4; men’s events, September 5 and 6; Roxburgh Golf Club, annual tournament, September 4, 5 and 6; Rotorua Golf Club, annual contest for New Zealand golf veterans’ cup and handicap tournament, September 2 to 4, inclusive; Napier Golf Club, September 9 to 12, inclusive; Australian open, amateur and professional championships, Metropolitan Links, Oakleigh, Melbourne, September D to IS; Dannevirke Golf Club, annual tournament, September 18, 19 and 20; Manawatu Golf Club, annual tournament, September 22, 23 and 24; Glendowie Golf Club, September 20 and 22; Wanganui Golf Club, October 9, 10 and 11; Hamilton Golf Club, South Auckland and Waikato championships, October 9, 10 and 11; New Zealand women’s championship (Heretaunga, Wellington), October 16 to 23. inclusive; Ashburton Golf Club, Mid-Ca_nterbury championships, October 25, 26 and 27; Hawera Golf Club, annual tournament, October 25 to 27; Seafield Golf Club, annual tournament, October 25, 27 and 28; Maungakiekie Golf Club, Titirangi links, annual open tournament, October 25, 27 and 28; North Otago Golf Club, annual tournament, Octobei 27; New Zealand championship tournament, Palmerston North, October 24 t© November L
