CREW OF LOST TAHITI
CIVIC WELCOME AT FOUR O’CLOCK TOWN HALL FUNCTION The civic welcome to be accorded Captain Toten and the officers and crew of the lost Tahiti, will be held in the Town Hall concert chamber at 4 o’clock this afternoon. The Tofua, which is bringing back the rescued crew and some passengers. Is scheduled to arrive In the stream at 2 o’clock, and it is expected that the vessel will tie up at Prince's Wharf about three. Captain Toten and his officers will leave by the expresses for Wellington this evening. VENTURA’S ARRIVAL SAN FRANCISCO, Monday. The steamer Ventura, with 91 of the Tahiti's passengers, arrived at San Francisco today, and received a tumultuous welcome. Airplanes escorted the vessel through the Golden Gate, the pilots of which dropped flowers on her deck. At the quarantine station an official committeo went on board the Ventura, and on behalf of the citizens of San Francisco, presented to Captain Meyer a scroll testifying to his brilliant rescue of the personnel of the Tahiti.
