STAFF ARRANGES PLEASANT DANCE IN THE NEW TEAROOMS 1_ SPORTS PRIZES PRESENTED The Farmers’ Trading Company, Limited, presented a very gay scene last evening, when a staff dance was held in aid of the Farmers’ Girls’ Sports Club, in the new tearooms. The room made a delightful setting for the many dancers present. Hanging lights were suspended from the high, domed ceiling, and round the room were antique lamps, which shed a beautiful glow with their changing lights. An attractive feature in the dance room was a fountain, with goldfish and waterlilies. The stone wall of the fountain provided seating accommodation for numbers of the guests. Hanging baskets of ferns, and bowls of iceland poppies decorated the adjoining tea room, where supper was served. Mr. David Robertson, assistant-gen-eral manager, presented the prizes won at the inter-departmental swimming, ping-pong, and cricket tournaments. The presentation of the swimming cvyj for the highest aggregate points, which was won by the office team, was presented by a mysterious "lady" of very prepossessing appearance. After being presented with a bouquet and making a speech in a high feminine voice, the “lady" was unmasked, and found to be one of the male members of the staff. A delightful programme of music was supplied by a band, comprising members of the staff.
