LAND AND DEEDS AND STAMP DUTIES DEPARTMENTS I J SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL BALL The officers of the Land and I Deeds and Stamp Duties Departments held a most successful ball in the Peter Pan Cabaret last even- I ing. The function is an annual one and is always popular, but last evening’s dance must have eclipsed all previous gatherings held by the departments. Bowls of Iceland poppies and daffodils were arranged on the tables round the dance floor and in the cubicles. Mr. Fred Biggs and the peter Pan Orchestra dispensed an enlivening programme of dance tunes and were recalled again and again. During the evening an exhibition of the “quick-step” and the modern waltz given by Miss Joan Morris and Mr. Priestley was enthusiastically received. The chaperones and members of the women’s committee present comprised: - —Mrs. W. Johnston, who wore a gown of rose pink sequins over rose satin; Mrs. C. R. Iveeble, phlox pink lace and gold lame coatee; Mrs. H. H. Osmers, geranium-red silk faille; Mrs. H. B. Walton, silver lace and cyclamen satin; Miss V. J. Goulding, black taffeta; Miss Nancy Pillinger, deep capuoino crepe de chine. • OTHERS PRESENT Mrs. E. Mosley was wearing a gown of gold and orchid lame. Mrs. A. D. McLaren was frocked in capucine and black patterned ninon. Mrs. V. Lough was wearing a leaf 4 green chiffon frock encrusted with silver beads. Mrs. J. Hall wore a charming picture frock of sprigged taffeta. Mrs. H. Gilmour wore a bouffant frock of printemps green faille. An ankle'length gown of citronne faille was chosen by Mrs. J. Forbes. Mrs. T. Aliss Audrey Colebrook had chosen flame satin beaute. Aliss Rona AlcGregor’s frock was of mimosa yellow ring velvet. Aliss Lilia Coutts wore a pretty frock of pastel-tinted sprigged taffeta. Aliss Olive Bicker-ton had chosen shell pink georgette, with shoulder draperies. Aliss Val AlcCallum was in a wattle yellow sprigged faille frock. Miss Joan Roberts had on a smart frock of black net, with floral appliques. Aliss Joyce Hill was wearing lido blue taffeta and lace. Aliss Nance Fort’s gown was of sunset pink satin. Aliss Myra Carline was wearing a phlox pink taffeta frock. Aliss Bell Grace had chosen a frock of geranium red moire. Aliss V, Derham was gowned in Chinese red ninon.
