CHARGES OF THEFT
METAL-POLISHER REMANDED Facing five charges of stealing metal valued at £7 5s 6d and two cases valued at 2s 6d, Walter James Charlton, a metal-polisher, aged 49, was remanded to appear at the Police Court on September 10. Charlton, through Mr. Bainbridge, pleaded not guilty, counsel asking that the case be stood down for two days. “Under those circumstances I will apply for a remand until September 10,” said Chief-Detective Hammond. There is another charge of stealing p. gun In 1919. Accused works at Mason and Porter, Ltd., from whose place the metal and cases were stolen.” The magistrate remanded accused until September 10, bail of £IOO being allowed.
