STRAND
“CRAZY THAT WAY” Some women are beyond all understanding of men. This is* exemplified in “Crazy That Way,” now at the Strand Theatre. The central figure is Joan Bennett, beautiful, charming, cultured. She is loved by many and followed -about by Regis Toomey and Jason Robards. The second feature is “The Benson Murder Case,” with William Powell in his old role of Philo Vance. Commencing on Friday another strong double feature programme will be shown at the Strand Theatre. “He Knew Women,” the chief attraction, is an adaptation of the successful stage play, “The Second Man.” It is a smart society drama of love in the four hundred, with a number of amusing and effective twists, which remove it far from the conventional. Lowell Sherman, suave and sophisticated leading man, plays opposite Alice Joyce, long known as the screen’s best-dressed woman, and one of its most competent actresses. Two players who are practically new to the screen vie for honours with Sherman and Miss Joyce. They are David Manners, who scored a sensational success in his first picture role as Raleigh in “Journey’s End,” and Frances Dade, starring Ann Pennington. “Tanned Legs” is one of the first tuneful shows to be written direct for the screen with five original song numbers.
