AUCKLAND LEADING Press Association HASTINGS, Tuesday. The New Zealand basketball tournament was continued this afternoon in beautiful weather. In section 1 Hawke’s Bay beat Wairarapa, 25 —19; Taranaki beat South Canterbury, 19—7; Auckland beat Southland, 13 —12. In section 2 Canterbury beat Marlborough, 20—13; Wellington beat Otago, 19 —11; Poverty Bay beat Manawatu, 9—5. The section points are:—Auckland and Wellington, 10 each; Otago and Southland, 8 ea«h: Hawke’s Bay and Canterbury, 6 each; Povertj y Bay, 4; Wairarapa, 3: Taranaki, 2; South Canterbury. Marlborough and Manawatu, X each. The first four teams will play off tomorrow. In the afternoon the North versus South Island will be played.
