FLYING ATLANTIC
FRENCH AIRMAN LEAVES WITH HEAVY LOAD COSTES REPORTS “G.K.” Reed. 11.20 a.m. PARIS, Monday. Captain Costes, in the airplane, “Question Mark,” laden with 1,155 gallons of petrol, just cleared the trees at Le Bourget, in his take-off on a transatlantic flight. He hopes to complete the journey in 40 or 50 hours. He will fly via Ireland, and will then follow the steamer route. A radio from sea announced that the Berengaria communicated with Costes at 11.45 a.m. local time, when the plane was off the Irish coast and flying fast. The airmen reported: “All 0.K.”
