ROXY

HOOT GIBSON TONIGHT Humour is an essential part of all good Western pictures, according to Hoot Gibson, who is now appearing in “Trailing Trouble” at the Roxy Theatre. “The old West had its own particular brand of humour,” said Gibson, “and we are merely serving the interests of reality when we inject it into pictures. Western humour as a rule was of a dry nature, well illustrated, fior instance, in Owen Winster’s ‘Virginian.’ “Horseplay also had its part in cowboy life, the jests being boisterous but harmless. Many of them may sound childish when enumerated,” said Gibson, “but they all go to make up the general atmosphere.” A special supporting programme of short talkie subjects is also being offered. Another British talkie film is announced to be shown here shortly. It is entitled “The Flame of Love,” and stars the Chinese actress, Anna May Wong.
