WELLINGTON, Today. The acting Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, announced today that he is now in a position to say that Sir Otto Niemeyer and Professor T. E. G. Gregory, of his party, have accepted the invitation extended by the Hon. G. W. Forbes to confer with the Government in connection with the banking, currency and exchange problems of the Dominion. It may be pointed out in this connection that the permanent banking legislation of New Zealand was largely

suspended by war regulations which are still in force and which are due for replacement by a permanent enactment. The Government is anxious to avail itself of the expert advice of

these world-recognised authorities in determining wliat system should be operative in the future. Professor Gregory remains in Wellington till Sir Otto comes over. PROF. T. E, G. Gregory, who lias been associated with Sir Otto Niemeyer in Australia, arrived from Syd-, ney by the Ulirparoa today as a guest of tlio Government. Professor T. E. G. Gregory, 'D.Sc., was appointed in 3 926 Sir E. Cassel Professor of Banking in the University of London, and from 1926 until the beginning of this year was dean of the faculty of economies in the university. He was a governor of the London School of Economics in 1926, and a senator of the university in 1928. He has published numerus works on banking, tariffs, and international finance, and is a contributor to the “Economic Journal” and the “Encyclopaedia Britanniea.”
