MUNICIPAL MUSIC
BAND AND ORGAN RECITALS As a tribute to the memory of ti* late Mr. Christopher Smith, conductoof the band since its inception in Handel’s “Bead March in Saul” played by the Municipal Band at tkTown Hall last evening. Mr. H. C.U, Lennan conducted. The Dead Marco was follow-ed by one of Mr. Smith 5 own compositions, the hymn Deep Harmony.” Other items were Alford’* mart] “Cavalry of the Clouds,” the overnr. “Zampa” (Herrold). “Suppllcat*" (Baynes), ‘ Salut D’Amour” and a selection from Gounod’s “Faur “The Lost Chord” (Sullivan) vL* played by Mr. J. Davies as a conn solo. There was also a large attendant at a concert given by the band durnc the afternoon at Zoological Park. ORGAN RECITAL An enjoyable recital was given bv the City organist. Mr. Maughan Barnett.;the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The programme included selections from Bach, Franck, West. Mendelssohn and Schubert. Mr. Barnett al*n played Chopin’s Funeral March in horour of the memory of the late Mr. Christopher Smith.
