THAMES RIFLE CLUB
AFFILIATES WITH PAEROA Frotn Our Oxen Correspondent THAMES, Today. Tho decision to affiliate with the Paeroa Rifle Club was arrived at when the Thames Defence Rifle Club held its annual meeting the other evening. The reason for this step is that on th© Thames range only 200 and 300 yards shoots are available, and the members feel handicapped when entering for competitions in other centres through lack of practice on long range work. Another forward step was taken the same evening when it was resolved to form a miniature rifle club at the conclusion of the forthcoming shooting season, which will commence in the first week of October.
Tho election of officers for the coming season resulted in the return of the following: Patron, Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P.: vice-patrons, Messrs. F. IT. Claxton, M. Labarre, E. Brown; club president, Mr. R. Cameron: vice-president, Mr. W. B. Gleeson; secretary-treasurer, Mr. P. Trebilcock: auditor, Mr. H. Crawford; handicapper, Mr. F. Causley; committee, Messrs. R. Cameron, P. Trebilcock, W. B. Gleeson, A. McLean, F. Causley, W. Dynes. Air. W. Dynes was the most successful rifleman for the past season, carrying off the championship prize and the rooster for the greatest number of wins during the year. The balancesheet showed a very healthy credit balance.
