POLICE FIGHT WAY OUT WITH REVOLVERS AUSTRALIAN DEMONSTRATION Reed. 10.35 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Wild scenes were witnessed at Balmain when a police inspector and ten constables were menaced by a crowd of about 3,000. The police were forced to draw revolvers to protect themselves. Sixteen men were arrested, and the police instructed the organisers of an unemployment meeting to abandon it. They arrested one speaker who ignored the order, and the howling mob then threatened the police, who eventually forced their way through.
