RATES FOR YEAR STRUCK A total rate of 2 l-10d in the pr>und lias been struck by the Howick Town Board, which held a special meeting to consider the rates for the coming year. Tho total rate last year was 1 7-8 d in the pound. The following rates were struck: General rate, ljd in the pound; hospital and charitable aid rate, l-sd; lighting, l-8d: Panmure-Huwick highway loan, 2-sd; Picton Street improvement loan, l-Bd.
