MASQUERADE DANCE
TANEATUA ODDFELLOWS HOLD GAY FUNCTION
NIKAU PALMS AND CHERRY BLOSSOMS DECORATE HALL
There was a large attendance at the Taneatua Oddfellows plain and fancy dress masquerade dance on Monday evening. The hall was very prettily decorated with pink and green streamers, nik.au palms, cherry blossoms, balloons, and coloured electric lights.
The dance music was supplied by the ATelody Boys’ Orchestra, from Rotorua.
“The Alajor” and #“Charlie Chaplin,” as Al.C.’s, had charge of proceedings, and spared no efforts to give the guests an enjoyable time.
The proceedings opened with a grand march and waltz, and after two other dances the judges, the Rev. W. W. Lambert, Mrs. Lambert, and Aliss V. Webb, awarded the prizes as follow: Best dressed couple. Air. H. Alitchell and Aliss A. Alitchell (Turkish Couple): most original woman’s costume. Miss Linda Peebles (R.A.F.): second prize, Rowena Farquhar (Bold Pirate): best dressed woman. Airs. AlcLonnell (Queen of the Harem): best dressed man, Mr. H. E. Varley (Old English): best poster costume, Mrs. Old (Yates’s Seeds); best paper costume, Aliss J. Court. AJanurewa (Wisteria).
