STOLE A TYRE
OTHER CHARGES WITHDRAWN Faced with ten charges of failing to account for money totalling £l4 5s sd, Alfred Joseph Taylor, a salesman, aged 23, who appeared at the Police Court yesterday, had a further charge of stealing a tyre valued at £1 6s 3d preferred against him. Through Mr. Singer, he pleaded guilty. Chief-Deiective Hammond said the offences had occurred while the accused was working for a tyre company. For accused, Mr. Singer asked for leniency on accouut of his previous good character. His father was prepared to make restitution. The charges of failing to account for moneys received were withdrawn and tho case was adjourned until tomorrow morning, when Taylor will appear on the theft charge only. “We ask lor some form of probation ;at least,” said Chief-Detective Ham- | mond. I “Of course I’ll do that,” said Mr. | Hunt. “A day or two in custody in | the meanwhile will give him time to [ meditate.”
