WOMEN’S HOCKEY
NO AUCKLAND TEAM FOR N.Z. TOURNAMENT The Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association will not be represented at this year’s New Zealand championship tournament, which is being held at Invercargill. This was announced at a meeting of the executive of the association on Thursday night, when a letter was received from the Collegiate .Section, advising that it had cancelled its entry for the tournament. Permission was given to teams to arrange the following special games: Y.W.C.A. v. Tauranga, Whangarei and Franklin; Wesley v. Waiuku juniors and Whiri Whirl; Papatoetoe v. Hauraki Plains. The Kiwi Club was also given permission to play a game against a Rotorua team. It was decided to investigate the possibility of arranging matches between Auckland representative teams and Waikato and Whangarei sides.
