MATCH WITH KENT

AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS WIPE OFF DEFICIT COUNTY MAKES 227 Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The Australian cricketers resumed their match against Kent today in sweltering heat, and before 10,000 spectators. When stumps were drawn yesterday Australia had been dismissed for 181, and Kent had lost four wickets for 87 runs. Ashdown scored steadily, but Todd .was 75 minutes in getting two. The pair was still together at lunch, when Kent was 30 behind. The slow and stubborn partnership ended in the first over after resumption. Chapman was easily caught in the slips and six were down for 156. Fine hitting by Legge and Wright carried the score along. Todd carried his bat, but showed inexcusably slowbatting for 205 minutes.' Wall bowled Will throughout. Woodfull and Ponsford scored only IS when Australia went in again. Bradman played Freeman witfr confidence, and with Woodfull, who was also batting soundly, wiped off the arrears. The pair gave an attractive exhibition.
