LIGHTING THE MUSEUM
ILLUMINATION OF SIDES AND REAR SUGGESTION TO COUNCIL in response to a request by the directors of the War Memorial Museum that certain lights in the Domain should be so altered as to give more adequate illumination to the back and sides of the museum, the City Engineer. Mr. J. Tyler, reported to the City Council last evening that no provision had b.een made for the lighting of the new roads at the Domain. The suggestion regarding the moving of some of the existing lights should not be • onsidered, said Mr. Tyler, as an inspection of the Domain at night would convince that all these lamps were necessary in their present positions.' Should, however, the council decide to provide lighting facilities for the new roads in the vicinity of the museum, 16 250 candle-power lamps would be necessary, the annual cost of which would be £175. “Tills is a large expenditure for lighting,” commented the DeputyMayor. Mr. A. J. Enfrican, in moving that the Works Committee be asked to report, a course which was adopted.
