WOMEN OF SAMOA
COL. ALLEN’S COMMENTS LABOUR WOMEN’S PROTEST Strong protests were made at a meeting of the Auckland ’Women’s Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party against statements made by Colonel S. S. Allen, Administrator of Western Samoa, in his annual report to the League of Nations and to the New Zealand Government, referring to women of Samoa. The meeting, which was well attended, was presided over by Mrs. Harrison. After attention had been directed by the secretary, Mrs. A. M. I Cassie, to the Administrator's comment, members unanimously passed a j resolution protesting against statements contained in Colonel Allen’s annual report to the New Zealand j Government and the League of Nations, which, the meeting consid- ! ered, reflected against the moral charI acter of Samoan women. The meeting also passed a resoluj tion deploring the action of the postal authorities in destroying copies of j “The New Zealand Samoa Guardian.’’
