SEEKING ADVICE
SUGGESTED VISIT TO N 7. BY SIR OTTO NIEMEYER GOVERNMENT APPROACHED .Special to THE SU2f CHRISTCHURCH, Thnrsday That Sir Otto Niemeyer should be invited to visit New Zealand to review the financial position, is a proposal being made to the Government by tbe New Zealand Associated Chambers D t Commerce. The suggestion that reu resentations lie made to the Government originated at a recent meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Conv merce. On Tuesday the Auckland Chamber communicated with Mr. C. p. A»ar chairman of the associated chambers’ suggesting that this course should be taken, and today instructions were forwarded to the secretary in Well ington to place the recommendation before the Government. According to Mr. Agar, the suggestion from Auckland was that the Acting-Prime Minister should he ats proached concerning the question h was likely, however, that Sir otto would be coming to New Zealand in any case, and he had written to Wellington to inquire if this was true If this was not correct the opportunity should be taken to invite suoh a man of outstanding financial ability to confer with the Government when he was so near. Apart from a review of the financial situation as it concerned the . Government, such a visit would giy, business men an opportunity of getting in touch with a financial expert “If the Government does not act on this suggestion, then Parliament itself should be approached in view of the need, in fact, the absolute necessity. of inviting Sir Otto to come to New Zealand/’ said Mr. Agar.'
