Increases in the output of both the lames and Liverpool State coal mines pn the West Coast of the South Island are shown in the annual report of the State Mines tabled in the House today, .■the gross total output from tho Liverpool Colliery was 141,420 tons 8 cwt, an increase of 12,294 tons 4 cwt over the figures for last* year. After allowances for stocks on hand fct the beginning of the year and deducting the mine consumption and waste, there remained for disposal 128,864 tons. The gross output from the colliery since its inception is $2,065,740 tons. At the James Colliery the gross total output for tho year was 43,964 tons 13 cwt, an increase of 4,860 tons 3cwt over the figure for last year. After allowances, the amount for disposal ■was 44,240 tons. The gross output from the colliery since its inception *was 243,448 tons.
