GREAT SOUTH ROAD
BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY’S WORK Mr. George \Y. Hutchinson, who presided at the meeting of the Great South Road Beautifying Council last evening, extended a welcome to the delegates of the Auckland Rotary Club, who attended the meeting of the council for the first time. The chairman reported that good progress had been made with the clearing of the triangular reserve on the Great South Road, at Takanini, and expected work would he completed early next week. The chairman reported that the Auckland Automobile Association liiid promised to donate £lO per annum for the next three years to the expenses of the council in addition to the ordinary affiliation fees. A donation of a number of trees by Sir James Gunson was accepted with thanks.
Mr. George W. l-lutchinson reported that seven local bodies had promised to donate £1 toward the cost of planting he triangular reserve at Takanini, and the only refusal to date was from .the One Tree Hill Borough Council. He said that he was a ratepayer in that district, and sooner than see it left out he would donate the required amount. Jr. was ultimately agreed that the application for a donation be renewed.
