SMALL BOY DROWNED

FALL INTO RIVER ALARM GIVEN BY SISTER From Our Own Correspondent WAIHI, Wednesday. While playing with his five-year-old sister on the bank of the Ohinemuri River this afternoon, Rupert Lewis, seven-year-old son of Mr. L. Williams, of Wellington Street, Waihi, fell into a deep pool. His sister ran home and gave the alarm, and no time was lost in searching for the body, but the boy had disappeared. The body was not recovered until 7.30 last evening, when it was found in 12ft of water by Mr. W. Weeks. At least one other drowning fatality has occurred near the same spot.
