A MARRIED MAN

Dear Miss Rutledge,— I have for the past year been keeping company with a girl to whom I am greatly attached. For the last month or so she has been going about with a man who is married and has one child. The man does not happen to be living with his family, but of course looks after them financially. My parents are surprised at my friend’s behaviour, and wish to stop my going out with her, but tliat, to me, would be a serious step and I seek your kindly advice. ANXroUS. ANSWER t 1 do not think that you can do very much unless the girl is sufficiently attached to you to be influenced by your opinion. If you feel this is the case, why not open your heart toi her, and point out the folly of her actions. Girls make irredeemable mistakes in keeping company with married men, especially if very young. With few exceptions there can be no “tomorrow” in such a friendship, for in nine cases out of ten the man misses family life and just needs temporary companionship. ANNE RUTLEDGE.
